Manners in the Workplace

Being a profesional, you have to pay attention to etiquettes in your workplace. There is something you as professionals have to possess, namely good manners. Good manners are shown from several aspects, such as your physical appearance, attitudes, and personality.
It is important to dress in a manner consistent with company culture and make sure your clothes are always clean. Besides, it is good for you to keep yourself clean. Taking shower or bathing every day is a must. It can relax your mind, lighten a little bit of your burden, make you feel fresh and be ready for your work. Brushing your teeth every morning after breakfast is important to keep your breath fresh.
Besides, you also have to be aware of your gesture. You have to stand up straight and sit with legs together to avoid displays. your gesture will influence other's impression on you. A wrong gesture will make a negative impression.
Then, you need to be careful with your attitude. Treat a cubicle as if it has a dooe and a ceiling. Speak calmly and with an even cadence, in person and on the telephone. Personal telephone conversations should be kept to a minimum if you inhabit a cubicle. No one wants to hear your arguments with your spouse. Confidential business conversations should be also be kept to a minimum if you're in a cubicle for similar reasons. You do not want to prematurely spill the beans on some important deal. you also have to avoid aggressive behavior such as learning into people, pointing at others, interrupting others, crowding others, using heavy perfume or cologne and bringing odorous food into the office. Snorting, spitting, or picking at any part of yourself is considered impolite.
Moreover, if you use an elevator, face forward in the elevator. if you are getting off near the top of the building, move to the rear of the elevator. If you're getting off on a lower floor, stand close to the front. Say "Hello" or "Good morning" to those you encounter in the morning nad "Good night" to those you encounter as you leave.
It can be concluded that being a professional needs a good package consisting of physical appearance, attitude, and personality. All aspects really influence your impression and help you get along eith others, especially your clients. Furthermore,of course, it will give a big effect to yur career.

Announcement

Hello students,

This is the announcement for class 2 all departments. There will be some tasks here that will exist on August 21st. Please, open this blog on that day. Your time is 2 days to finish them.

Thank you.

3.2 Expressing 'Wish'

Wish expresses a desire that is contrary to the fact. So, beside Conditional If, you can also use Wish.

Look at this condition.

Ann: Tom, do you know what I wish? I wish our vacation started today.

Tom: I wish we never had to go back to school.

If we see from the examle above, the form of wish usually folowed by Past Verb (started, had).

Now, try this exercise and do like the example given.

E.g.: I don't have much money. I wish I had a lot of money.

  1. I don't know which suit to wear.
  2. I don't know how to find my book.
  3. I am confused what to do this evening.
  4. I don't have any idea where to spend my vacation.
  5. I want to go to Europe but I can't speak the language.

3.2 Conditional if (Exercise)

Look at these examples:

  • If they won the prize, I would ask them.
  • They would succeed if they worked harder.

Conditional if is the sentence that in the real condition is not what they think about. So, if someone thinks about one condition, the condition itself is trully different with what he says. In Bahasa Indonesia it calls pengandaian.

Now try to do this task. Fill in correctly like the example given.

E.g.: If you met (meet) this man, you would be (be) afraid.

  1. If I ... (hear) you call, I ... (come) immediately.
  2. If they ... (know) the truth, they ... (be) shock.
  3. If I ... (understand) the language, I ... (go) around the world.
  4. If the players ... (try) harder, they ... (win) more game.
  5. If we ... (leave) now, no one ... (miss) us.

3.2b Exercise for Reservation

Hai again,

Please do this exercise.

Work in pairs to write a dialogue based on this situation.
A famous symphony orchestra will be on Grand Theater tonight. Your girl friend is very interested in classical music. She comes to you and request you to attend the show with her. You agree to her request and then call up the ticket service to reserve two tickets and remind you that your reservation is only valid until one hour before the show is on. This is formal situation.

All right students,

Have a nice work. Bye.

4. Nippon travel has booked 15 double rooms in hotel.

2.3 Tag Questions

Hai students,

Today's material is about Tag Questions. Do you know it? Yes, that's right. It is a mini question at the end of a sentence, such as: isn't it?, is it?, aren't they?, etc.

All right students, there are some rules in making Tag Questions, are as follows:

  1. If the sentence is positive, the tag should be in negative.
  2. If the sentence is negative, the tag should be in positive.
  3. If the sentence is imperative, the tag is 'will you?'.
  4. If the tag is inviting (Let's . . .) the tag is 'shall we?'.
  5. You cannot make tag if the sentence is interrogative sentence.
  6. The sound is important in tag. If the sound is goes down, it means to make it sure. But, if the sound goes up, it means that it needs the answer.

Here are the examples:

  • It is nice weather, isn't it?
  • It's not hot today, is it?
  • Close the door, will you?
  • Let's go out for a walk, shall we?
  • She has a nice car, doesn't she?
  • She has finished her job, hasn't she?
  • She finished her task, didn't she?
  • They didn't go to school yesterday, did they?
  • etc.

All right students, I think that's all for the Tag.
